PLATAFORMA PARA USO EM CONTROLAR DISPOSITIVOS ALVO EM UMA REDE LOCAL, PONTO DE CONEXãO RESIDENCIAL, INSTRUçõES PARA UMA PLATAFORMA, PRODUTO DE PROGRAMA DE COMPUTAçãO, E, BIBLIOTECA DE ENTIDADES PARA USO COM UMA PLATAFORMA Um sistema de conexão por rede local inclui uma plataforma de processamento (110) e dispositivos alvo (151-153), tais como utensílios. A plataforma suporta um estrutura de ponto de conexão de serviços abertos, tal como aquela da Iniciativa de Ponto de conexão de Serviços Abertos (OSGi), e executa aplicativos (130) para controlar os dispositivos alvo (151-153). Os dispositivos alvo são cada um representado por uma entidade (133), que pode ser manipulada pelo aplicativo (130) por uma interface de programas aplicativos (API, 134). As entidades seguem uma estrutura hierárquica comum de tipos de dispositivo, em que uma entidade representando um tipo de dispositivo mais baixo na hierarquia herda as propriedades de tipos de dispositivo mais altos na hierarquia. Isto apresenta uma API consistente para aplicativos. As entidades podem fazer parte de uma camada de abstração que usa uma linguagem comum, tal como a Linguagem de Controle Uniforme Doméstica (HUCL). Cada entidade pode ser registrada com a estrutura como um serviço de dispositivo ou um único serviço de dispositivo (146) pode ser registrado com a estrutura que representa múltiplas entidades (147).
