Abstract
"SISTEMA DE VáLVULA PARA HIDROCEFALIA NA FAIXA DE ALTA PRESSãO". A presente invenção refere-se a uma válvula para utilização em um sistema de derivação para drenar fluido de uma parte de um corpo de paciente para uma outra é fornecida. Em uma modalidade tomada como exemplo, a válvula é operável uma pressão limiar que é ajustável de maneira seletiva até no mínimo cerca de 400 mm de H~ 2~0 em incrementos na faixa de cerca de 10 mm de H~ 2~0 até 40 mm de H~ 2~0. A capacidade da válvula para operar em uma pressão limiar elevada e ser ajustada em incrementos relativamente pequenos, torna a válvula particularmente vantajosa para utilização em pacientes mais jovens de hidrocefalia. Em particular, a pressão de operação da válvula pode ser gradualmente limitada em pequenos incrementos durante um período de tempo, para forçar lentamente o sistema de reabsorção próprio do paciente e para circular fluido cérebro-espinhal.
