An ingot is initially wound into a process section having at least first and second segments joined by an intermediate screen, with the cross-sectional area of the second segment being larger than that of the first segment. The intermediate web is cut to separate the first and second segments, and the segments thus separated are simultaneously wound into finished products having different cross-sectional areas.
