A presente invenção refere-se a um processo aperfeiçoado para a preparação de cloridrato de 5,6-diidro-4-(S)-(etilamino)-6-(S)-metil-4H- tieno¢2,3b!tiopirano-2-sulfonamida-7,7-dióxido de fórmula (I) comumente conhecido como Cloridrato de Dorzolamida útil como um agente para reduzir a pressão intra-ocular por inibição da enzima anidrase carbónica.PROCESS FOR PREPARING 5,6-DIHYDRO-4- (S) - (ETHYLAMINO) -6- (S) -METHYL-4H-TIENO ¢ 2,3b! TIOPI RANO-2-SULPHONAMIDE-7,7-DIOXIDE CHLORIDE. The present invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of 5,6-dihydro-4- (S) - (ethylamino) -6- (S) -methyl-4H-thieno [2,3b] thiopyran-2-one hydrochloride. 2-sulfonamide-7,7-dioxide of formula (I) commonly known as Dorzolamide Hydrochloride useful as an agent for reducing intraocular pressure by inhibiting the carbonic anhydrase enzyme.
