Abstract
The present invention relates to a projectile made from a single solid piece of deformable metal, which contains no lead or toxic materials, is easily deformable but does not fragment in a soft environment with a high energy transfer rate, and has a high solidity level on rigid targets, retaining most or all of their initial mass when penetrating these targets. Said objectives are achieved by constructing a solid one-piece projectile with a longitudinal axis cavity that opens toward the front end of the projectile. The construction method comprises a simple sequence of operations: cutting a cylindrical matrix of soft material, molding a cavity centered on the longitudinal axis, and molding in an ogival or conical shape, with external pre-cuts to promote homogeneous deformation. The present invention applies to ammunition for any handgun, rifle or shotgun; When used on smooth-barreled weapons, the essential stability of the projectile is achieved by positioning the center of gravity ahead of the aerodynamic center.
