Abstract

According to the present invention, a selective-pore-sized noble metal-containing molecular sieve catalyst is sulfided to produce a sulfide catalyst, where the molar ratio of sulfur to noble metal in the sulfide catalyst is greater than 1, and a waxy hydrocarbon feed is hydroisomerized by contacting the waxy hydrocarbon feed with the sulfide catalyst under hydroisomerization conditions to produce a lubricating base oil.
