Abstract
"MéTODOS E DISPOSITIVOS PARA A COLOCAçãO MINIMAMENTE INVASIVA DE ELEMENTO DE FIXAçãO ESPINAL". AND DEVICES FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE SPINAL FIXING ELEMENT PLACEMENT". Minimally invasive methods and devices are provided for introducing a spinal fixation element at a surgical site into a patient's spinal column. In one embodiment, a dissecting tool is provided for separating the muscles along a muscle plane without causing damage to the muscles. The dissecting tool may also include a lumen extending therethrough to receive a guidewire. The tool allows the guidewire to be positioned relative to a vertebra, and once properly positioned, the tool can be removed to allow a spinal support to be dispensed along the guidewire and implanted into the vertebra.
