Abstract

AND ELECTROCHEMICAL CELLS, ASSEMBLY OR PART OF AN ELECTRICALLY CELL DEPENDENT APPLICATION FOR CURED MEMBRANE". An electrothermal fluidized bed furnace is adapted for use in a continuous process for heat treatment of fine particulate matter such as carbon black material by continuously introducing a nonreactive fluidizing gas through the furnace nozzles at a predetermined rate and continuously introducing it. untreated carbon black material through the furnace feed tube at a predetermined rate so that it forms a fluidized bed, energizing the electrode to heat the fluidized bed, and continuously collecting treated carbon black from the discharge tube . Carbon black collected from the discharge pipe exhibits properties of having pAHs and sulfur removed, carbon black has been graphitized, moisture absorption by carbon black has been eliminated and carbon black is more resistant to oxidation. In addition, the resulting carbon blacks have a particle size of 7-100 nm and an oil absorption number of 50-300 mL / 100 g, while thermal carbon blacks have a particle size of 200-500 nm. nm and an oil absorption number of less than 50 mL / 100 9. Provides thermally modified carbon blacks having improved performance properties in food contact applications, wet cured polymer systems, zinc carbon dry cell battery applications, applications in other electrochemical energy sources and other electronic applications, applications in semiconductor wires and cables, and membrane compounds showing improved thermal conductivity and improved processability.
