Abstract

DISPOSITIVO CONVERSOR PARA SER DISPOSTO EM SISTEMA DE ESCAPANENTO DE MOTOR DE COMBUSTãO. A presente invenção refere-se a um dispositivo conversor adaptado para ser disposto no sistema de escapamento de um motor de combustão. O dispositivo conversor compreende um revestimento externo (1), um corpo tubular (4) encerrado pelo revestimento (l) e uma passagem para levar os gases de escapamento através do dispositivo conversor. De modo a se obterem boas propriedades de amortecimento sónico, é necessário que o dispositivo conversor compreenda uma passagem comprida para gases de escapamento. De modo a se ter um dispositivo conversor compacto com uma passagem comprida, o dispositivo conversor compreende pelo menos um duto de escapamento axial (13a, b), que tem uma extensão helicoidal em volta do corpo tubular (4), e um duto de escapamento radial (13c, d), que tem uma extensão em espiral entre uma primeira parte (17a) da passagem, que é situada fora do corpo tubular (4), e uma segunda parte (17b) da passagem, que é situada dentro do corpo tubular (4).
