Abstract
"REPRESENTAçãO VIRTUAL DE SEQüêNCIAS DE NUCLEOTìDEO". A presente invenção refere-se a sondas de oligonucleotídeo que podem ser usadas para se hibridizarem a uma representação de seqüências de ácido nucléico. As composições que contêm as sondas tais como micro-arranjos também são fornecidas. A invenção também fornece processos para a utilização destas sondas e composições em aplicações terapêuticas, para diagnóstico e para pesquisa. The present invention relates to oligonucleotide probes that can be used to hybridize to a representation of nucleic acid sequences. Compositions containing probes such as microarray are also provided. The invention also provides methods for using these probes and compositions in therapeutic, diagnostic and research applications. Systems and processes are provided for using a word counting algorithm that can quickly and accurately count the number of times a particular string (i.e. nucleotide) appears in a nucleotide sequence (e.g. , a genome). This algorithm can be used to identify the oligonucleotide probes of the invention. The algorithm uses a genome transform and auxiliary data structure to count the number of times a particular word occurs in the genome.
