Abstract
"PROCESSO CATALìTICO PARA A DESTRUIçãO DE CONTAMINANTES EM áGUA UTILIZANDO PERóXIDO DE HIDROGêNIO E CATALISADOR HETEROGêNEO". FOR DESTRUCTION OF CONTAMINANTS IN WATER USING HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AND HYPEROGENIC CATALYST". The present invention relates to a water treatment process containing organic contaminants using a heterogeneous catalyst based on bituminous coal oxides and iron hydroxides, which catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, generating free radicals that oxidize non-oxidising. selectively dissolved organic contaminants. The catalyst is a process that uses a solid that catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, producing highly oxidizing hydroxyl and hydroperoxyl radicals that are responsible for the destruction of organic compounds present in water. The proposed process consists of contacting the water to be treated with the heterogeneous catalyst and the addition of hydrogen peroxide. Heterogeneous catalyst is a composite based on bituminous coal oxides and hydroxides of iron, which is active to decompose hydrogen peroxide and generate oxidizing free radicals, which then decompose organic compounds dissolved in water. The process can be used in a fixed reactor, adjusting the residence time to values greater than 10 minutes; or in stirred reactors.
