Abstract
"PROCESSO HìBRIDO SPRAY-PRENSAGEM A QUENTE PARA A CONFECçãO DE CONJUNTOS ELETRODO/MEMBRANA/ELETRODO DE CéLULAS A COMBUSTìVEL DO TIPO PEM". The present invention is characterized by an Electrode / Membrane / Electrode (MEA) assembly manufacturing process for proton exchange polymeric membrane cells, that is, the PEMFC type, aiming at reducing manufacturing costs while maintaining a good performance. PEM are efficient and low (or zero) emission cells and apply to stationary and mobile power generation units. The process is characterized by the use of two known techniques for the manufacture of MEA <39> S: the spray technique for application of the catalytic layer on the membrane and the hot pressing technique for the complete MEA, ie. catalytic layer, diffuser layer and membrane. The present invention is characterized by being a hybrid of these two techniques, combined with simplified and low cost steps, bringing the advantages of these two methods into one. Process characteristics are to produce MEA <39> s with an area of 25 cm¬ 2¬ up to 400 cm¬ 2¬; simply using ultrapure water as a solvent for producing the electrode precursor paint; use a solution of Nafion dissolved in water; use a suitable heated vacuum table to produce the electrodes; press commercial diffuser layers; produce extremely thin catalytic layers.
