Abstract

The present invention relates to a shield plate (10) comprising at least two opposing plates (B1, B2) and spaced 40 mm apart, one of which is made of NTU-CG carbon steel. -HT The shield plate 10 of the present invention provides safe and reliable shielding to users due to the use of a lightweight, durable material with very good ballistic characteristics (NTU-CG-HT carbon steel). As such, it reduces the final weight of the armored vehicle and allows it to deliver better performance and drivability. The invention provides for the implementation of the plate (B2) of the shield plate (10) as a new internal finish for the vehicle. This internal trim will prevent the projectile from reaching the interior of the vehicle. The projectile is prevented from entering the vehicle as follows: the projectile fired at the armored vehicle passes through the armor plate (B1), which will typically be the original vehicle plate consisting of, for example, SAE 1006 carbon steel. As it passes through plate B1, the projectile is deflected and strikes plate B2, which will be made of NTU-CG-HT carbon steel and will prevent the projectile from reaching the interior of the vehicle.
