This is a microwave popcorn package that contains a load of popcorn kernels for preparation in a microwave oven. The package is made up of multiple panels that transmit microwaves folded together to create a cavity in which the corn kernels are stored and popped. Preferably, one of the panels includes a susceptibility device for heating the corn kernels and the corn kernels are moved uniformly adjacent substantially throughout the surface area of the susceptibility device. An envelope to contain the unbroken corn kernels is created from additional microwave transmissive material or from the panels themselves. The strength of the envelope is sufficient to contain and protect the corn kernels during transport and storage, but the envelope will burst when subjected to the expansion pressure caused by the corn kernels during the corn kernel popping process. One of the packaging panels is also preferably attached to the packaging with a releaseable adhesive that allows the panel to be removed after the corn kernels have burst, to allow access to the corn kernels. Preferably, the envelope is created from the same material as the removable panel and, preferably, the envelope isolates any oily ingredient from the rest of the packaging during the storage period before popping the corn kernels.
