Um processo para reduzir comunicações com, e sinalização para e de um HLR (204) é exposto para chamadas locais ou originadas de MSC (118). Quando um assinante registra (114) com o HLR (204), o perfil completo para aquele assinante é transferido (116) ao VLR (207) associado com o MSC (206) (ou MSC/ WOS) envolvido. Quando uma chamada (118) para o assinante é originada no MSC (206), o VLR (207) associado com aquele MSC (206) é conferido (102) para determinar se a informação de localização do assinante já está mantida no VLR (207). When a call (118) to the subscriber originates at the MSC (206), the VLR (207) associated with that MSC (206) is checked (102) to determine whether the subscriber's location information is already maintained at the VLR (207 ). If so, the MSC (206) can radiolocate (122) and route the call to the subscriber's Mobile phone through the (222) base station transmitter (210, 212, 214) associated with the VLR (207). As such, for such calls originating from local MSCs (118), there is no need to interrogate the HLR (204) for subscriber information, thereby reducing signaling to and from the HLR (204).
