Abstract

TO PRODUCE PLANTS THAT ARE RESISTANT OR TOLERANT TO HERBICIDES, COMPLETELY FAITHFUL (OR STERILE MALE) PLANT MORPHOLOGICALLY NORMAL, USE OF A POLYNUCLEOTIDE, AND, PROCESS TO SELECTIVELY CONTROL WEEDS THAT ARE A PROCESS OF WEED IN A PROCESS OF DAMINES IN A DUCT PROCESS tolerant to herbicides that, in vitro, inhibit 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxigenase (4HPPD) comprises the steps of: (i) transforming plant material with a polynucleotide that comprises a region that encodes a phytoene desaturase; regenerate the modified material in this way for morphologically normal plants. In a preferred embodiment, the region comprised by the polynucleotide is the sequence described in SEQ ID N ° 1, or is a sequence that is complementary to one that when incubated at a temperature between 55 and 60 ° C in saline solution buffered with a concentration of 0 , 3, containing 0.1% SDS followed by washing at the same temperature with 0.3% citrate buffered saline solution, containing 0.1% SDS until it hybridizes with the sequence described in SEQ ID N ° 1 .
