Abstract

FOR SCANNING AN IMAGE <MV> <D> A single-reading scanner containing a trilinear system, a white light source, filters of the three primary colors and a separate source of infrared light is used in several methods instrument-based defect removal from a scanned film image. The method generates an infrared channel in addition to the common visible channels covering the parallel lines of the sensors in the trilinear system respectively with a red, green, and blue filter to create the three colored channels. Typically, each of the three colored filters also passes infrared light, which is removed by filters external to the sensors. In a specific modality, interstitial in time between two scans of visible light, the sensor is exposed to infrared light for a simple scan. As the trilinear system scans the image transversely in synchronization of time and space with the exposed lights, at least two visible channels and an infrared channel are generated.
