"APERFEIçOAMENTOS EM APARELHO ORTOPéDICO", composto de um primeiro (1), feito basicamente em material plástico (acrílico), que inclui arcos vestibulares superior (2) e inferior (3); bem como um segundo aparelho (1'), feito de mesmo material, que inclui apenas arco vestibular superior (2'); os aparelhos (1) e (1') são formados por uma parte superior na forma aproximada de uma lombada (4), que segue a conformação geral do céu da boca, bem como uma parte inferior (5) formada por duas paredes que acompanham a arcada dentária (6) e se prolongam desde o extremo anterior até o extremo posterior do aparelho; as partes superior (4) e inferior (5) são unidas por superfícies (7) que se abrem em direção ao interior da boca, as quais simulam áreas mordidas pelos usuários; os aparelhos (1) e 1') se destacam pelo fato de que, tanto as regiões semelhantes a lombadas (4), como os extremos de encontro das paredes (6), são providos de aberturas no sentido longitudinal (8), as quais permitem que o aparelho possa ser regulado, através de um mecanismo de ajuste com expansores (9) aplicados no topo das ditas lombadas (4); além de eliminar o uso excessivo de material metálico, o presente aparelho possibilita, através da regulagem descrita, a sua abertura no sentido de prover a expansão do palato, bem como a correção da arcada inferior."IMPROVEMENTS IN ORTHOPEDIC APPLIANCE", composed of a first (1), made basically of plastic material (acrylic), which includes upper (2) and lower (3) vestibular arches; as well as a second device (1 '), made of the same material, which includes only the upper vestibular arch (2'); the devices (1) and (1 ') are formed by an upper part in the approximate shape of a spine (4), which follows the general shape of the roof of the mouth, as well as a lower part (5) formed by two walls that accompany the dental arch (6) and extend from the anterior end to the posterior end of the appliance; the upper (4) and lower (5) parts are joined by surfaces (7) that open towards the inside of the mouth, which simulate areas bitten by users; the appliances (1) and 1 ') stand out due to the fact that both the spine-like regions (4) and the ends meeting the walls (6) are provided with openings in the longitudinal direction (8), which they allow the device to be regulated, through an adjustment mechanism with expanders (9) applied on top of said spines (4); in addition to eliminating the excessive use of metallic material, the present device allows, through the described regulation, its opening in order to provide the expansion of the palate, as well as the correction of the lower arch.
