Abstract
trata-se de uma fibra óptica (10) que compreende um núcleo óptico (11) e uma bainha óptica (30, 50) que circunda o núcleo óptico, em que o núcleo óptico tem um único perfil de índice de grau a com a=1, a sendo um parâmetro não dimensional que define o formato de perfil de índice do núcleo óptico, e em que o núcleo óptico tem um índice de refração máximo n_co em seu centro; a bainha óptica tem, em sua borda externa, um índice de refração n_cl, e compreende uma região (12) de índice de refração reduzido n_trench, chamado de vala, com uma diferença de índice de refração negativo ¿¿n¿_t=n_trench-n_cl em relação à dita bainha óptica, em que a vala tem um raio externo r_trench. de acordo com modalidades da revelação, o núcleo óptico e a bainha são configurados para suportar a propagação de pelo menos seus modos espaciais e no máximo cinquenta e cinco modos espaciais em um comprimento de onda operacional ¿_op entre, e incluindo, 1.460 nm e 1.675 nm, e o núcleo óptico satisfaz um critério de ovalidade entre 0,05 e 0,3, quando o dito critério de ovalidade é medido a uma circunferência de índice igual n_eq no dito núcleo, de modo que ¿¿n¿_eq=n_eq-n_cl seja menor que 75% de ¿¿n¿_co=n_co-n_cl, em que o dito critério de ovalidade o é definido pela seguinte equação: o=(a-b)/(a+b) em que a é um comprimento de um eixo geométrico semiprincipal da referida circunferência e b é um comprimento de um eixo geométrico semissecundário da referida circunferência.
