um trem de processo para armazenamento de produção flutuante e instalação de descarregamento incluem um tanque de armazenamento de petróleo bruto que está equipado com pelo menos um conjunto de componentes eletrostáticos internos dispostos para fornecer um caminho de fluxo de tratamento isolado do volume cercando a seção do separado eletrostático do tanque. um fluxo ou mistura de óleo-e-água entrando no conjunto de componentes eletrostáticos internos viaja através do caminho de fluxo de tratamento estando sujeito a um campo elétrico. o caminho de fluxo de tratamento está em uma direção a montante voltado para a seção de saída de óleo e em uma direção opostamente à jusante voltada para a seção de saída de água do tanque. ao empregar os componentes eletrostáticos internos dentro do tanque, é possivel permitir um conteúdo de entrada de água dentro do tanque de até 80%, reduzindo significantemente o necessário equipamento de processamento superior.
