Abstract
a presente invenção refere-se a um sistema de rastreamento para investigar o comportamento de uma rede. em operação, cada comutador na rede (ou cada comutador em algum subconjunto de comutadores) pode determinar se cada pacote original que ele processa satisfaz uma ou mais regras de detecção de pacotes. se assim for, o comutador gera um pacote espelhado e envia este pacote para um multiplexador de balanceador de carga o qual, por sua vez, encaminha o pacote espelhado para um módulo de processamento para posterior análise. as regras de detecção de pacotes hospedadas pelos comutadores podem ser concebidas para selecionar um subconjunto de pacotes que são de maior interesse, com base em quaisquer objetivos específicos para o ambiente. como um resultado deste comportamento, o sistema de rastreamento pode identificar efetiva e rapidamente o comportamento indesejável (e potencialmente desejável) da rede, sem ser sobrecarregado por muita informação.
