resumo patente de invenção: "métodos melhorados para controle de ervas daninhas". a presente invenção refere-se, inter alia, a um método para melhorar a tolerância de uma planta que tenha sido geneticamente manipulada de forma a sobre-expressar uma p-hidroxifenilpiruvato dioxigenase (hppd), a um herbicida inibidor de hppd, em que o referido método compreende a aplicação à referida planta de um composto contendo ferro solúvel em água. a presente invenção também se relaciona a um método para controlar seletivamente as ervas daninhas em um local, o local compreendendo ervas daninhas e plantas de cultivo, em que as plantas de cultivo tenham sido geneticamente manipuladas de modo a sobre-expressarem uma hppd que confere tolerância a um herbicida inibidor de hppd, o método compreendendo a aplicação ao local de (i) uma quantidade de um herbicida inibidor de hppd para controlar as ervas daninhas e (ii) um composto contendo ferro solúvel em água. a presente invenção também se refere a uma composição herbicida compreendendo um herbicida inibidor de hppd e um composto contendo ferro solúvel em água.
