Abstract

Summary Method for Enhancing Drilling Fluid Performance The present invention relates to methods for drilling a wellbore in which a penetration fluid is foamed into the drilling tool. A method according to the present invention comprises providing a penetration fluid comprising an aqueous fluid, a foaming agent, a foam stabilizer, a gas generating chemical and an encapsulated activator; introducing downhole penetration fluid into a drill string connected to a drill tool; and allowing the drilling fluid to exit the drilling tool where, upon exiting the drilling tool, the encapsulated activator is decapsulated enough to react with the gas generating chemical such that a gas is generated within the penetrating fluid and thus foam the penetration fluid.
