Nessa invenção, foi padronizado um novo processo bioquímico empregando enzimas específicas e substâncias químicas não tóxicas que eliminariam totalmente o uso de cal e sulfeto de sódio no processamento do couro. Foi verificado que a extensão da remoção dos pêlos e abertura dos feixes de fibras se compara as dos couros curtidos convencionais. O desempenho dos couros é mostrado como sendo igual aos dos couros convencionais.
