"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA REGISTRAR A LOCALIZAçãO ELETRôNICA DE UM DISPOSITIVO DE COMUNICAçãO CELULAR MóVEL". Identificar e registrar a localização eletrônica de um dispositivo de reportagem de dados móvel (MDRD) operando dentro das áreas de radiochamada de um sistema de radiotelefonia móvel celular (CMR). MDRD travels freely between CMR systems and is operative to communicate selected data collected from data sources to a data service provider through CMR system control channels. The location recording system allows the data collection system to transmit a data message to the mobile data reporting device through the control channels of the particular CMR system within the radio call areas of which the MDRD resides. Each MDRD contains a list of System Identification Numbers that identify CMR systems that support data message communication. The SID list can be updated periodically through a series of update control messages transmitted to MDRD. MDRD can also identify supporting CMR systems by monitoring data traffic on CMR system control channels. Once MDRD has determined that a particular CMR system supports data message communication, MDRD may generate a maintenance message informing the data service provider about the electronic location of MDRD. Once the data service provider has been informed of the MDRD's electronic location, the service provider may transmit control messages to the MDRD through the radio call area that corresponds to the identified electronic location. Identifying MDRD's electronic location eliminates the need for flood radio call for all radio call areas where MDRD can be located.
