A invenção refere-se a um processo de fabricação de uma cinta apta à fabricação de corpos de caixas para bebidas, comportando: a elaboração de uma liga de alumínio contendo (em peso) de 1,1 a 1,7 % de Mg, de 1,2 a 1,6 % de Mn, de 0,05 a 0,45 % de Si, de 0,05 a 0,60 % de Fe, até 0,40 % de Cu, até 0,14 de Cr, até 0,08 % de Ti, outros elementos até 0,07 % de cada um e 0,25 % no total, o resto alumínio; o tratamento dessa liga líquida por injeção de gás (preferencialmente de argónio); a fundição entre cilindros de uma cinta de espessura inferior a 5 mm e, preferencialmente, inferior a 4 mm, durante a qual um lubrificante, é aplicado sobre os cilindros; a homogeneização da cinta entre 450 e 530<198>C para uma duração compreendida entre 2 e 20 horas; a laminação a frio da cinta em vários passes; um recozimento intermediário entre 300 e 400<198>C durante 1 a 12 horas; a laminação a frio em um ou vários passes até à espessura final.
