Abstract
AND METHOD FOR EFFICIENT ALLOCATION OF TDMA BAND WIDTH FOR NETWORKS BASED ON SATELLITE TCP / IP". A communication system balances message traffic between return channel groups and within groups, so that the user does not control the specific transmission frequency used. Uplink frequencies and bandwidth widths for the return channels are established by the system in a return channel control message in the broadcast signal in order to respond to the loading of the system and the return channel group, and to account for registers. subsequent user messages. An initial transmission from a remote user can be made using an ALOHA burst signal that provides a backlog of message to the control station / and is done at a determined frequency of a process for frequency selection based on randomly weighted load. The system, not individual users, determines channel and frequency allocations. For large backup records or priority users, periodic bandwidth is provided. A method for balancing loads between and between groups of return channels in the communication system includes requesting return channel bandwidth in an uplink message from a remote user to a control station. The uplink message can include both a backlog indicator and a request for bandwidth allocation provided to a Network Operations Center (NOC) which can be used to establish the frequency and return channel bandwidth. for the remote uplink. A user message is transmitted on the designated return channel frequency using allocated bandwidth according to the backlog indicator and a request for bandwidth allocation so that traffic loads are kept in balance between frequency groups. established return channels, and within each return channel frequency group.
