Abstract

"ELEMENTO COMUTADOR MAGNETO-óPTICO COM UM DISPOSITIVO GIRATóRIO FARADAY". A invenção refere-se a um elemento comutador magneto-óptico compreendendo um dispositivo giratório Faraday. A fim de aumentar a velocidade de comutação e reduzir a energia de comutação necessária, o dispositivo giratório consiste em um cristal magneticamente monoaxial que possui domínios magnéticos de ambos sinais de polaridade em cada um de seus estados estáveis. Os problemas associados a criação de domínios com os respectivos sinais de polaridade diferentes no início do processo de comutação são evitados usando o elemento comutador da invenção.
