Métodos e aparelho para padronizar fisicamente as estruturas não operacionais que podem ser lidas (30, 32, 34) em um disco óptico (10) são apresentados. Em uma modalidade, as estruturas não operacionais são frisos magnéticos (60), e o método compreende a aplicação de campos magnéticos externos (44) ao disco óptico (10). Em outra modalidade, as estruturas não operacionais possuem uma carga elétrica líquida.
