Patente de Invenção: "MODIFICAçãO DE COMPOSIçãO DE LIGNINA DE GIMNOSPERMAS". Um processo de produção de uma planta gimnosperma transformada ou precursor de planta (células, calo, embrião, broto, semente ou muda) tendo um genoma contendo pelo menos um transgene exprimível que resulta na modificação da composição de lignina da planta eficaz para tomar a planta mais comercialmente desejável. Um dos transgenes expremível é de preferência o gene de ferulato 5-hidroxilase, ou um gene que codifica uma enzima que tem atividade enzimática substancialmente similar à enzima de FSH quando transformada em levedura, de modo que quando transformada em células de planta, ela resulta na produção de lignina contendo resíduos de siringila ou outros resíduos de lignina em um gimnosperma.Invention Patent: "MODIFICATION OF GYNOSPERMAS LIGNIN COMPOSITION". A process of producing a transformed gymnosperm plant or plant precursor (cells, callus, embryo, bud, seed or seedling) having a genome containing at least one expressible transgene that results in modifying the lignin composition of the plant effective to take the plant more commercially desirable. One of the expressible transgenes is preferably the 5-hydroxylase ferulate gene, or a gene that encodes an enzyme that has enzymatic activity substantially similar to the FSH enzyme when transformed into yeast, so that when transformed into plant cells, it results in production of lignin containing syringyl residues or other lignin residues in a gymnosperm.
