Abstract

The composition and the method are used for the manufacture of acoustic boxes used for loudspeaker units and other similar pieces of equipment. The composition includes sinthetic resin, granular minerals, mineral powders and pearlite, said ingredients being distributed in different layers having specified functions: the first layer - glossy and decorative, containing resin; the second layer - supporting, containing 1 vol.% resin, 1.8-2 vol.% granular minerals (sand), 0.3-0.5 vol.% mineral powders; and the third layer - sound-absorbing, containing 1 vol.% resin, 1.1-1.3 vol.% pearlite with 0.5 mm granulometric composition. According to the method, a mould of the desired shape is made and the required treatment of the shape-forming sides (walls) is performed. The first layer of sinthetic resin optionally decorated is applied. After its jellification in the mould is placed a thermoplastic hollow body having dimensions suitable for shaping out the desired thickness of the second layer which is applied in the so formed hollow at pressure up to 2 atm. After its solidificationthere is placed a second thermoplastic hollow body having suitable dimensions to shape out the desired thickness of the third, sound-absorbing layer. The third layer is injected in the formed cavity at pressure up to 2 atm., and after its hardening the second thermoplastic hollow body is cut out and removed.
