Abstract

The method finds application in metallurgy of the noble metals for obtaining high purity gold. It ensures high level extraction of gold and all accompanying useful metals. The source material is subjected to multistage separation, including sifting, magnetic separation and gravity separation, and the resulting product enriched with gold is processed with concentrated hydrochloric acid for 20-30 hby continuous mixing. After separating the slag, the resulting second gold-enriched product is blended with borax and melted at 1100-1200 degrees C. The resulting black gold bullion is blended with silver, consecutively subjected to pre-electrolysis and additional processing with 64-65 percent HNO3, and after that it undergoes electrorefining. The intermediate products from the multistage separation, i.e. the coarse fraction after sifting, the magnetic fraction from the magnetic separation, and the gravity separation waste, as well as the slag resulting from the melting process, are fed for processing in the lead production cycle to extract the gold and silver contained therein.
