Compositions based on this polysulphide oligomer find application for sealing and hydro-insulation purposes in construction and machine-building. The oligomer is obtained by a simplified process and has no unpleasant odour with compositions prepared thereof having excellent adhesion properties on wood, metal and concrete regardless of their water content. The polysulphide oligomer has an unit of periodicity:<IMAGE>where the value of n ranges between 3 and 30, molecular mass 1,000-10,000 and -SH end and -OH side groups. It is obtained by reacting dichloro ether with sodium disulphide at a ratio of 0.5:1.0 - 0.5:10, temperature of 60-85 degrees C and ambient pressure for 30-150 minutes. The polysulphide oligomer is used in mono- and bicomponent sealing compositions, as well as in epoxy-thiokolic compositions.
