The method is applicable in the field of electrical engineering. It extends the tools' life-span and the utilisation of materials. The method consists of cold stamping of the commutator blank, direct extrusion and formation of insulating platelets, which are positioned at a distance from each other and from the segments. Then the segments are assembled, pressed by an insulating plastic material together with the fixed commutator sleeve and reinforcing rings and machining the cylindrical surface of the commutator. The cold stamping is carried out by a combined deformation process applying counter-pressure. After the direct extrusion, there follow blanking and shaping of the clamping parts of the commutator.
