The prepared polyethers are used as components of polymer compositions used for biological and medical purposes. Their physiological component, the 8-quinolinol, features a urethanic bond, which allows its hydrolytic separation. The polyethers have the following structure:<IMAGE>where R means CH3O-CH2-CH2-O- or<IMAGE>where the value of n ranges between 4 and 70 and R1 is -/CH2/6-,>C6H3CH3 or -C6H4-C/CH3/2-C6H4-, X1=X2=H or halogen and X2=NO2. The preparation method comprises two stages: reacting polyethylene glycols with diisocyanates in the presence of a catalyst and reacting the diisocyanic derivatives with 8-quinolinols in the presence of catalysts at room temperature.
