Abstract

Alloy masters are used in metallurgical plants and foundries to produce specialty steels with high nitrogen contents. They ensure optimal utilisation of the alloying elements and reduce the duration of alloying processes. The composition of the master-alloy in wt.% is as follows: silicon 40-90, nitrogen 5-40 and a supplementary content of calcium fluoride 0.5-15%.
