Abstract
The hybridoma secretes a monoclonal antibody, which may be used for immuno-reagent for diagnosing potato virus M (PVM) in affected potato plants. The line affords a highly specific monoclonal antibody, which is capable of detecting the virus M (PVM) in all specimens it occurs in, and which does not give cross reactions with isolates of other potato viruses. The hybridoma cell line, which is registered in the NBPMCC under No. 1553, is obtained by cross culturing lymphocytes derived from mice challenged with the viral antigen with a murine myeloma cell line.
