The chromatic kaval is a wooden wind musical instrument made of three parts: upper (21), middle (fingerboard) (22) and lower (23) sections, interconnected by means of two narrower and two wider sections. The kaval has a total of nine finger holes, eight of them fitted on the face side of the fingerboard (22) and one is fitted on its back, in its upper part. Thus, it becomes possible to perform two additional tones and the soloist qualities and the harmonic functions of the kaval are extended in the orchestra of national instruments. 7 claims, 10 figures
