Abstract

By the method a mixture is extracted containing a caprolactam solution in water and an ammonium sulphate solution containing a caprolactam solution in water and solvent in the mixture. The organic phase produced is separated from the aqueous phase in a separator, and the caprolactam is extracted from the organic mixture. The organic solvent is dispersed in the neutralized regrouped mixture in a mixer after which the mixture is separated. The aqueous phase contains ammonium sulphate and less tan 1 wt. % caprolactam, and the organic phase contains caprolactam and not more than 60 ppm ammonium sulphate. 12 claims
