Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the extraction of copper of raw lead by liquation of sulphidation by subsequent treatment of the copper-arsenic byproducts by soda melting. By the method, the raw lead, after separation of the build-up along the chute of the melting furnace (byproduct 1), is subjected to coarse copper extraction by liquation and also in addition of powder sulphur in two successive stages where copper dross of reduced arsenic content (byproducts 2 & 3) is separated. The latter is treated separately or together with byproduct 1 by soda melting where copper-lead matte and alkaline-slag enriched arsenic is produced without forming any speiss.
