Abstract

The detectors are all connected to a remote central alarm unit. If a detected sound has predetermined characteristics, e.g. frequency, amplitude or duration, or a combination of such characteristics, the central unit produces an audible or visual alarm, or both. - The audible alarm may be a simulation of the sound detected or may be a simple buzzer, klaxon, etc. The system can be programmed to ''recognise'' the sounds may be the animals in particular circumstances, e.g. sickness, fear, etc. Other transducers may be used in place of acoustic ones to detect emergency conditions such as fires, flooding etc.
