Abstract

A plaster of Paris bandage as a roll or sheet (opt. perforated) consists of a thermoplastic polyurethane copolymer carrying on 1 or both sides a very thin, opt. perforated, self adhesive elastic film of polyurethane foam. The material is warmed before applicn. Other elastic or extensible foams can be used.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

    EXPLANATORY NOTE Filed in support of an application for a PATENT OF INVENTION filed by
Tom Ponnet on October 8, 1986 for a composition consisting of a thermoplastic polyurethane copolymer, with polyurethane foam, for orthopedic use.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 The object of the invention is to considerably improve the existing synthetic and other plaster bandages, in rolls and in plate form, by using a very specific composition.

  These are obtained by the production of thermoplastic copolymer of POLYURETHANE, coated on both sides with a very thin perforated self-adhesive elastic film of POLYURETHANE FOAM.

  The use of this new material is made possible by heating, whereby the material becomes malleable and elastic. This heating can be done: By immersion in warm water, through a warm air oven, on a heated plate, between two heated surfaces, with a warm air blower.

  Important advantages that emerge from the invention: Can be used directly on the skin without underlay, does not stick to hair and skin, soft to the touch with other skin surfaces, can be used homogeneously, leaves no visible fingerprints, excludes the use of disposable gloves , does not crumble, remains reusable, washable, light to wear, easy to use due to its flexibility
 EMI2.1
 during application, allows X-rays through, subsequent corrections possible, wear-resistant, resistant to chemicals and aging, increased shock resistance, improved breathing structure. stretchable to 2.5 times the original length, saving material and time.

   Depending on the desired result, several rolls can be applied one above the other, without loss of adhesion due to premature hardening process, and long processing time.

  It is clear that the invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments and that many modifications could be made to it without departing from the scope of the patent application.
