Spuitinrichting.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
persluchtmondstuk.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
snappen.

INVENTION PATENT APPLICATION in the name of

Spraying device.
The invention relates to a spraying device for manufacturing bakery products, such as polonaises and the like, from a foam mass.
In a known spraying device, a foam mass column emerging from the nozzle is cut into short annular parts, which, after being baked, are manually glued together using foam which has not yet been baked, so as to form the bakery product. Cutting takes place with the aid of a wire or a correspondingly suitable cutting member.
A drawback of this is that this thread frequently adheres to the, generally rather sticky, foam mass, so that an irregular cutting surface and therefore an irregular bakery product with an unattractive appearance is obtained. Moreover, this known spraying device is very labor-intensive in its use.
The object of the invention is to provide a spraying device of the type mentioned in the preamble, wherein this drawback is eliminated in a simple, yet effective manner.
To this end, the spraying device according to the invention is characterized by at least one nozzle with an axially disposed core, feed means for supplying the foam mass to the nozzle and means for distributing the foam mass column emerging from the nozzle without contact in the individual bakery products. Because the foam mass column is distributed contactlessly in the individual bakery products, a regular cutting surface and an attractive appearance of the bakery products are obtained, while, moreover, a higher production speed is possible compared to manually forming the bakery products from separate annular parts.
In a preferred embodiment of the spraying device according to the invention, the distributing means consist of a radially inwardly directed surrounding the foam mass column.

compressed air nozzle.
With the aid of this compressed air nozzle an effective contact-free distribution of the foam mass column is achieved.
The result of contactless distribution can be improved even further if the compressed air nozzle is in the form of an endless annular gap. In another advantageous embodiment of the spraying device according to the invention, the compressed air nozzle is located axially past the side of the core remote from the foam mass supply members, wherein an air supply and discharge pipe opens into this side of the core.
During the formation of the foam mass column, the air supply and discharge pipe prevents a vacuum from forming beyond the core, which would collapse the hollow foam mass column. When the foam mass column is distributed in the individual bakery products with the aid of the compressed air nozzle, the compressed air can escape via the air supply and discharge pipes.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, in which an embodiment of the spraying device according to the invention is shown.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a spraying device according to the invention prior to the formation of a bakery product; Fig. 2 shows the spraying device of Fig. 1 after the formation of a bakery product; Fig. 3 shows a section along the line III-III in Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 shows a section along the line IV-IV in Fig. 3.
The spraying device shown in Fig. 1 for manufacturing bakery products, such as polonaises and the like, from a foam mass 1, has a nozzle 2 with a core 3 placed axially therein, as well as feed members 4 for supplying the foam mass 1 to the nozzle 2. of the core 3 placed in the nozzle 2, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
foam mass in the form of a hollow foam mass column from the nozzle 2, as clearly visible in fig. 2.
Depending on the desired production speed, the spraying device can be provided with several nozzles operating synchronously.
For the contactless distribution of the foam mass column emerging from the nozzle 2 into the individual bakery products, the spraying device has a compressed air nozzle 5 radially inwardly surrounding the foam mass column, as can be seen in particular from Figs. 3 and 4, the compressed air nozzle 5 in the form of an endless annular gap 6, through which the compressed air can penetrate on all sides into the foam mass column.
The annular gap 6 is connected via a number of channels 7 extending in the wall of the nozzle 2 to an annular air distribution chamber 8, which is also arranged in the wall of the nozzle 2, and which is connectable to a compressed air source. This air distribution chamber 8 ensures that at least substantially equal pressure prevails over the entire annular gap, whereby an effective operation thereof is obtained.
As will further be apparent from Fig. 4, the compressed air nozzle 5 is arranged in the immediate vicinity of the end of the nozzle 2. As a result, a bakery product cut off from the foam mass column will at least be substantially entirely under the nozzle 2, so that removal of this bakery product is possible in a simple manner is.
The compressed air nozzle 5 is located axially beyond the side of the core 3 remote from the foam mass supplying members 4, with an air supply and discharge pipe 9 opening into this side of the core. In the shown embodiment of the spraying device, this air supply and discharge pipe 9 is formed in that the core is hollow, the said side being completely open. The compressed air emerging via the annular gap 6 and distributing the foam mass column in the individual bakery products can easily escape via this air supply and discharge pipe 9.
The core 3 is through four, located radially between the core
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
3 and lines 10 extending from the nozzle 2 to the nozzle 2 are connected. These pipes 10 hereby form the connection between the environment and the air supply and discharge pipe 9. Moreover, the core 3 is suspended in this manner firmly in the nozzle 2. The diameter of the pipes 10 is such that they do not impede the foam mass emerging from the nozzle 2. The viscosity of this foam mass is sufficiently large to ensure that this foam mass closes completely again after passing the lines 10.
As can be seen from a comparison of Figs. 1 and 2, the spraying device and a baking tray 11 or the like, receiving the bakery products, can be reciprocated relative to each other in the direction of movement of the foam mass. In the shown embodiment, the spraying device is movable to and fro.
The operation of the spraying device according to the invention is as follows. The foam mass 1 is transported downwards to the nozzle 2 by means of the transport members 4. The conveying members 4 push the foam mass through this nozzle 2 along the core 3, whereby a hollow foam mass column is formed, which exits from the nozzle 2 at the bottom. Simultaneously, the sprayer moves upwards at such a speed that the bottom of the foam mass column does not move relative to the baking sheet 11. During this phase of the manufacture of the bakery products, the baking sheet 11 is stationary. The air and discharge pipe 9, which communicates with the environment via the pipes 10, ensures that no vacuum can be created in the hollow foam mass column thus formed.
When the foam mass column has reached the desired length, the feeders are stopped, while a short burst of compressed air is delivered via the annular gap 6, thereby separating a separate bakery product from the foam mass column. This compressed air can escape to the environment via the air and discharge pipe 9 and pipes 10.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
understanding. During this cutting off of a separate bakery product, the spraying device still moves upwards, so that the top side of a bakery product thus formed is completely released from the underside of the nozzle 2. After this, the baking tray 11 can move the bakery product out from under the spraying device, after which the spraying device downwards moves and the formation of a subsequent bakery product can begin.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but can be varied in many ways within the scope of the invention.
