Description
Gasmasker Gasmasker.
Gas mask Gas mask.
The present invention relates to a gas mask.
It is known that respirators mainly consist of an inlet, an outlet and a speech diaphragm that are separate
in fasteners, these fasteners being the inlet and outlet pieces of the aforementioned
can hold inlet and outlet for mouth and nose openings,
and a filter connector allowing to attach a filter to the inlet. The fasteners can consist of a face mask with eyeglasses or a panoramic sight glass and any other accessories. It is also known that the inlet and outlet pieces of such gas masks each have at least one non-return valve. In addition, a number of other accessories are usually provided.
It is clear that the known embodiments have the drawback that the maintenance is made more difficult by the large number of separate parts. Another drawback exists
in that, on the one hand, the assembly during manufacture and, on the other hand, checking the gas masks for their proper functioning take a relatively long time.
It is also known that the current filters are relatively heavy and bulky. This can of course lead to the restriction of the head movements, the additional reduction of the field of vision already reduced with masks, the rapid fatigue of certain neck muscles by the applied torque, and the obstructing or making impossible the use of instruments, tools or devices by the wearer of the mask.
The present invention therefore relates to an embodiment for a gas mask which allows the systematic exclusion of the aforementioned and other drawbacks of the known gas masks. To this end, the invention provides a gas mask, with
characterized in that it mainly consists of an inlet and outlet piece, fasteners for fixing the inlet and outlet piece for mouth and nose openings, and a filter connection piece, in particular the inlet and outlet piece mainly consisting of a monoblock. Furthermore, the gas mask according to the invention has the feature that the filter connecting piece is tiltable relative to the inlet and outlet piece.
The use of a monoblock for inlet and outlet, or in other words a common inlet and outlet piece, offers the advantage that the gas masks are easy to manufacture and can be easily checked for their proper functioning. The use of a tiltable filter connection piece offers the advantage that the relatively heavy filter can be easily removed from an annoying position by handling it in a different position.
In a first preferred embodiment, such a gas mask comprises a monobloc inlet and outlet piece and an all-way tiltable filter connector, the filter connector on the inlet and outlet piece.
is linked by a ball and socket joint.
According to a second preferred embodiment, the tiltable filter connecting piece is rotatable in one plane. The coupling between the inlet and outlet piece on the one hand and the filter connection piece on the other hand is realized by means of a revolving elbow-shaped connector. One end of this coupling piece is always directed towards the mouth of the wearer of the respirator, while at the other end the filter connecting piece is arranged. According to
In addition, this second preferred embodiment uses an inlet and outlet piece which still has a number of specific advantages, which will be further apparent from the detailed description.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention, two embodiments are described below, as examples without any limitation, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the gas mask according to the invention; Figure 2 shows in cross section the inlet and outlet piece and the filter connecting piece of the gas mask of Figure 1; figure 3 represents a view according to arrow F3 in figure 2; figure 4 represents a view according to arrow F4 in figure 2; figure 5 represents a second embodiment of the gas mask according to the invention; figure 6 represents a section according to line VI-VI in figure 5.
As shown in figure 1, the gas mask mainly consists of an inlet and outlet piece 1, fasteners 2
for attaching the inlet and outlet piece 1 for mouth and nose openings and a filter connector piece 3. The fixing means 2 are hereby known per se and consist, for example, of a face mask which is provided with eyeglasses 4, or possibly with a panoramic sight glass 4A. Various types of filters 5 can of course be provided in the filter connection piece 3, which can be selected in function of the application.
The special feature of the invention consists in that the inlet and outlet piece 1, as shown in figures 2 to
4, in one piece or in a monobloc form. This monoblock mainly consists of a number of inlet channels 6 and an outlet opening 7 which, by means of an exhalation valve 8
can be closed. The inlet and outlet piece 1 will preferably also be provided with a speech membrane 9. Of course
this inlet and outlet 1 can be provided with other accessories, such as a dispositive for liquid food
a second speech diaphragm for a telecommunications connection, a perspiration drain, etc.
Another special feature of the invention consists in it
that the filter connection piece 3 can be tilted relative to
the inlet and outlet piece 1, wherein the filter connecting piece 3 with the filter 5 mounted thereon is preferably designed such that it can retain its last occupied position. For this purpose coupling means 10 are arranged between the filter connecting piece 3 and the inlet and outlet piece 1, which, as shown in figures 1 to 4, for example, consist of a flexible air supply pipe 11 and a ball joint 12. The flexible air supply pipe preferably consists of a bellows.
The first part 13 of the ball joint 12 forms part of the inlet and outlet piece 1. The second part 14, which for example consists of the ball, is mounted on the end
15 of a rod 16, this rod 16 at its opposite end 17 carrying the filter connecting piece 3.
A number of clamping bands 18 to 20 will of course be provided around the flexible air supply pipe on the one hand
11, and on the other hand, to attach the face mask to the inlet and outlet piece 1 and the filter connector piece 3. Furthermore, a sealing ring 21 will be provided in the filter connector piece 3.
The operation of the gas mask according to figures 1 to 4 can be easily deduced from the latter. By making the ball joint 12 sufficiently clamping, the advantage arises that the filter connection piece 3, as well as the filter 5, can be placed in all kinds of positions, such that this still forms little hindrance for the wearer of the gas mask.
According to a variant not shown in the figures
the coupling means 10 also consists of a large ball joint which has a central passage. This ball joint can be hollow for this purpose. The ball of the ball joint will then, for example, be the continuation of the lower end 22 of the inlet and outlet piece 1, while the jacket of the ball joint is integral with the filter connection piece 3.
It is clear that the coupling means 10 can also consist of a universal joint.
According to yet another variant, the coupling means 10 consist exclusively of the flexible air supply pipe 11. Naturally, the flexible pipe is then sufficiently sturdy, so that it can maintain its last occupied position despite the weight of the filter 5.
Figures 5 and 6 show a further preferred embodiment of the invention with a very compact inlet and outlet piece 1. The inlet and outlet piece 1 hereby mainly consists of a housing 23.
The front of the housing 23 consists of a double grille
24, of which both grid parts 25 and 26 are designed such that their respective grid openings 27 and 28 do not overlap. The double grating 24 offers the advantage that jets, for example water jets, cannot penetrate into the inlet and outlet piece and would damage the speech membrane 9.
The back of the housing 23 consists of the speech membrane 9 and a grille 29 on the side of the face, to protect the membrane 9. Because the speech membrane 9 is directly in front of the mouth, the sound vibrations can penetrate unhindered .
The housing 23 is provided with double-walled sides 30, which are formed by an inner wall 31 and, respectively
an outer wall 32. The intermediate space 33 communicates with the inner side of the gas mask. On both sides
of the housing 23 there is an outlet opening in the inner wall 31
7 which is sealed by means of an exhalation valve 8. The exhaled air can escape through the exhalation valve, the interior of the housing 23 and the double grille 24. The use of two exhaust vents
7 offers the advantage of having to overcome a lower resistance to exhale.
The tiltable filter connection piece 3 of figure 5 can be rotated 180 degrees in one plane. To this end, the coupling means 10 consist of an elbow-shaped coupling piece 34 tiltable about an axis A-A, as well as a suitable seat 35 for this purpose. Preferably, the seat 35 is such that it provides a snug fit to the connector 34. One end 36 of this connector 34 faces the face of the mask wearer, while the second end 37 points down and is provided of the filter connection piece 3.
As also shown in figure 5, the seat 38 is preferably arranged under the housing 23, whereby a compact whole is obtained.
An inlet valve 38 is mounted near the end 36 of the coupling piece 34.
At the bottom of the inlet and outlet are resources
39 that allow the placement of an accessory 40 for the supply of food and the removal of perspiration. The means 39 consist, for example, of a support plate.
The housing 23, the seat 35 and the means 39 preferably consist of one sprayed part. This offers the advantage that a robust whole is created. In addition, only one opening should be provided in the mask as all accessories are in one monoblock.
The invention relates both to gas masks which on the one hand are provided with a tiltable connecting piece 3, but on the other hand do not have a one-piece inlet and outlet piece 1, as well as
on gas masks which, as shown in the figures, provide in the combination of both features.
The present invention is by no means limited to the embodiments described as examples and shown in the accompanying drawings, but such gas mask, as well as its constituent parts, can be realized in various shapes and sizes, without departing from the scope of the invention.
