SYSTEME D'ENTRAINEMENT.

DRIVE SYSTEM.
We explained in patent N [deg.] 903,657 of November 18, 1985 and in the patent application for improvement under N [deg.] 0/216241 of February 7, 1986, the advantages of mounting a flexible wire, under tension, directly on the part to be driven and which surrounds the axis of an electric motor to obtain a rectilinear development.
By mounting the wire directly on the workpiece, among other advantages, it eliminates noise and. loss of energy which would result from friction due to the necessary tension of the wire, on deflection or mounting elements such as pulleys, guides, etc., and the tension of the wire also does not cause lateral traction of the motor axis against its bearings. The offset fixing points of the two ends of the wire prevent the loss of energy which would result from the lateral friction of the edges of the turn of the wire on the motor axis.
This patent describes how the system can be adapted to obtain fairly long slide or slide drives, and mainly for crossed slides, such as for example in X-Y scanning of individual cards carrying optical or magnetic information.
The object of the present invention is to provide means allowing a silent, very economical drive for slides, without play between the motor axis and the part to be driven, mainly for crossed slide movements.
To achieve these goals, it is therefore proposed to mount a flexible wire on the slide or slide, substantially in parallel with these, the wire being put under elastic tension and surrounding with a loop the axis of an electric motor in order to '' be in solidarity with the development of the diameter thereof. The wire fixing lugs on the slide are offset so that the loop rolls on the motor axis without lateral stress on the edges of the wire, from one end to the other of its travel.
In order to clearly understand the invention, non-limiting examples will be described below.
In FIG. I, there is shown at I a slide provided with buttonholes 2-3 guided by fixed axes 4-5.
On this slide, spring tabs 6-7 are fixed between which is mounted a flexible wire 8. This wire surrounds the axis 9 of an electric motor 10.
By turning in one direction or the other, the electric motor can therefore drive the slide I, according to the arrows II, until the edges of the buttonholes 2-3 will come up against the fixed pins 4- 5.
The legs 6-7 for fixing the wire, have different lengths so that the wire rolls along the axis 9 with a pitch greater than the diameter of the wire,
so that there is no lateral friction from their edges.
In FIG. 2, there is shown an example of crossed slides intended to move in X-Y a card carrying optical information in front of a writing or reading head by means of a laser, not shown.
A support 12 can move horizontally along the arrows 13, on fixed guide axes 14-15.
Legs forming a spring are fixed in 16-17 putting a wire 18 under tension. This wire, for example made of nylon, wraps around the axis 19 of an electric motor 20.
The wire attachment points are offset, as in the example in FIG. I, so that the lateral edges of the wire do not rub against each other by rolling on the axis, all along its travel.
On this mobile support 12 are fixed guide pins
21-22, along which can move vertically, in the direction of the arrows 23, a support 24 which can receive in a frame 25, a card 26 carrying optical information 27.
This support is driven by a motor 28 whose axis 29 drives in one direction or the other, the support 24 on which are fixed tabs 30-31 which keep a wire 32 under tension and of which a turn surrounds the axis driving force in order to be united in its development.
By controlling the supply of motors 20 and 28,
we can therefore move the map horizontally and vertically
and bring any point on the map in front of, for example,
a laser beam 33, coming from a fixed writing or reading head, not shown.
We can see that in certain systems, we can achieve the opposite, i.e., that a writing or reading head
can be fixed on the support 24 and it can be moved in all directions in front of a card which would remain in a fixed position.
Speaking of a head for writing or reading optical information, we naturally also encompass the elements composing it, for example, the laser light emitter and
the photosensitive receivers can be fixed, and the elements such as lenses or return prisms can be mobile.
