Abstract

The fluid pressure-actuated friction brake or clamp coupling comprises a housing (C) containing a rotary (F) cylinder (D) carrying axially extending friction elements (B) which are radially movably secured around its perimeter. A cylindrical cup-shaped (elastomeric) bellows (A) between the elements and the perimeter of the cylinder has its rim sealingly secured (via E) to the latter. It is fluid-pressurisable via ducts within the cylinder. - The fluid pressure expands the bellows and brings the elements into frictional contact with the friction lining on the inner housing wall.
