Abstract
The device is intended for cleaning the exposed chain of a bicycle. It comprises a plastics box contg. a rotatable gear wheel with teeth capable of engaging in the chain links whilst held in contact with the chain. This wheel consists of two toothed discs with a star-shaped brush between them, of which the bristles project radially outward of the teeth. - This wheel is arranged between two larger-dia. discs with brushes on their inner sides to engage the sides of the chain whilst the star brush enters the links. The box is filled with cleaning and lubricating fluid, e.g. Diesel fuel and is held with the wheel against the chain whilst one pedal is rotated with the other hand.

Uitvindingsoctrooi.
Fietskettingreiniger.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Invention patent.
Bicycle chain cleaner.
The invention relates to a plastic box with a lid. In the box, an axle is placed in both wide walls, which runs through the center of a gear and two discs. The discs are placed on either side of the gear.
Each disc, on the side where the gear is located, is provided on the inside with a brush (through openings in the disc) such that this brush is parallel to the edge of the disc.
The sprocket consists of two halves (vertical section), in which openings are left on the inside so that a preformed, star-shaped brush can be placed therein. The two half gears are put together with an inlaid brush, so that a gear is created with brushes that protrude above the teeth.
The chain cleaner can be activated by first filling the box with a liquid; diesel oil is very suitable for this.
The chain cleaner is now placed with the right hand under the chain and then up and up

pushed that the brushes pass through the links of the chain and therefore also on the outer sides of the chain.
With the left hand the lid is pressed onto the box, the left thumb on the lid and the fingers of the left hand under the box, so that the chain cleaner is stuck in the left hand.
With the right hand, the right pedal of the bicycle is now gently rotated several times. The brushes take the liquid from the box to the chain that is now being cleaned, both on the outside and in the links the chain is also lubricated.
The contaminated liquid can be poured after the chain cleaner has been removed from the chain.
The use of this chain cleaner, especially for bicycles with an exposed chain, which therefore fills up quickly, saves the cyclist a lot of time during maintenance; the chain does not need to be (dis) assembled; in addition, very little fluid consumption; no contamination of body parts, clothing and workplace; unlimited use; over time worn brushes can be easily replaced with new ones.
The attached drawings will clarify this.
