"Afdichting met scheurlip voor recipiënten" als UITVINDINGSOCTROOI.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
werkwijze in twee stappen moet geschieden.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Sealing with tear tab for receptacles" as INVENTION PATTERN.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This invention relates to a tear-off seal for receptacles.
More particularly, this invention relates to a aforesaid seal which is joined to the container by thermo-welding and wherein this thermo-welding is effected by inductive heating.
Indeed, for the application of the above-mentioned seals, which consist of an aluminum foil provided with a layer of thermo-weldable material, two main methods are known, namely those in which the heating is effected by conduction, the so-called heat welding, and one in which the heating is obtained by induction.
As is known, the main differences of these methods consist in that in the so-called heat welding the intended seal is provided before the actual cover is applied, while in induction welding the intended seal is applied together with the actual lid, after which the heat supply, necessary for welding the seal on the container is obtained by induction.
It is clear that the latter method has several advantages over the former, the main fact being that only one operation is required for applying the seal and lid, where this is the case with the former.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the two-step process must be carried out.
It is also known that removal of the aforesaid seal is generally inconvenient as only a small free circumferential edge remains on which one does not have enough grip to remove the seal so that the latter usually has to be pushed out or cut out.
In order to avoid this drawback and to obtain a seal which can be easily removed, it has already been proposed to provide such a seal with a tear lip, in other words a protrusion which can be gripped appropriately to tear the seal loose from the container.
Such application has hitherto found a solution where use is made of the aforementioned first method, in other words in which the seal is first fixed by heat welding and then the cover is applied, but has not proved useful when heating by induction applied.
Indeed, it has been found that in the latter case the actual seal is not only welded to the receptacle, but that the protruding tear lip, insofar as it is not already damaged during the screwing on of the actual lid, is also welded to the receptacle so that such tear lip does not is of no use anymore.
In order to keep such a tear lip free from the receptacle during induction welding, it has already been proposed to create a free space at the location of such a lip by designing the top edge of the receptacle at an internal gradient. However, it was hereby obtained that not only is the opening of the container markedly reduced, with all the drawbacks associated therewith, but also that it is virtually impossible to keep the seal precisely in place while burning the tear lip is inevitable. Indeed it is known
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
that it is the property of inductive currents to concentrate on the outer periphery of the foil to be heated, the so-called kelvin effect, so that the aforementioned lip is burned and unusable.
This invention therefore relates to a sealing with a tear lip intended to be fixed by induction welding, wherein the dimensions of the receptacle and the lid remain the same as this is the case when no tear lip is provided and in which the receptacle and / or the lid is arranged in such a way be formed so that the tear lip is placed freely between the container and the lid, so that welding to the container and / or lid is completely excluded and the tear lip is placed out of the plane of the seal, in other words outside the induction field, so that damage is caused by it. burning, totally excluded.
The present invention, which exhibits the aforementioned and other features, is of the type in which an actual seal is provided in the lid, which consists of an aluminum foil which is applied to a thickness of cardboard and which is provided with a layer of thermo-sealable material, with which this actual seal on the receptacle opening is welded by induction welding, this sealing being characterized in that the actual sealing is provided with a tear lip which is placed in a space between lid and receptacle in such a way that, on the one hand, any contact of the tear lip with the receptacle is avoided and, on the other hand , the tear lip is placed outside the plane of the seal or out of the induction field.
In order to better demonstrate the features of the invention, some exemplary embodiments are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 shows a cross section of the top part of a container that of a seal with a tear lip full-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the invention provides; figure 2 represents a variant of figure 1; Figure 3 shows a top view of a tear-lip seal as used in accordance with the invention.
Figure 1 shows a cross-section of an application according to the invention in which the diameter of the free end 1 of the neck 2 of a receptacle 3 is reduced in order to form a space 4 between receptacle and lid 5.
In this way it is obtained that a classic thermo sealable seal 6 with tear lip 7 can be inserted into the lid 5, wherein the lip 7 automatically places itself against the inner wall 8 of the lid 5 and wherein this lip 7, during screwing on of the lid, is the presence of the space 4 remains free from the receptacle 2.
It is thus obtained that welding of the lip 7 to the receptacle 2 is excluded and that the lip 7 from the plane of the seal is thus kept out of the induction field.
Figure 2 shows an embodiment with which the same advantages are obtained, but wherein the chamber 4 is formed in the lid 5.
It is clear that the invention is not limited to the examples described, but can be applied in various shapes and sizes.
