Abstract
The turbine consists of curved blades welded into a circular frame to form a cylindrical wheel rotatable about a central axle. The blade profile is formed by two elliptical arcs and gives more progressive loading of the wheel, a reduction in induced vibrations and a reduction of sound level. - The blades are positioned relative to the frame so as to give a 28 deg. entry angle relative to the outer wheel tangent and an outlet angle which is at 12 degs. relative to the wheel radius. The water inlet is a logarithmic spiral, also at an angle of 12 degs.(0/2)

(Fig. II).

PATENT OF INVENTION relating to optimization devices for hydraulic turbines derived from your Banki wheel

The present patent application relates to a set of devices which aim to

optimize "Banki wheel", also types of turbines hydraulic wheels.
Hydraulic wheels have long been the only devices using water. Today, turbines are increasingly replacing paddlewheels.

This wheel consists of curved vanes, bilaterally embedded and welded in two flasks: the whole evokes a squirrel cage.

The present patent application relates to the following improvements to the hydraulic rotor, explained below by way of example and not limiting to the so-called Banki wheel, it being understood that these devices, in whole or in part can be applied or adapted to any other device for the kinetic energy of water.
The devices which are the subject of this patent application all aim at improving the efficiency or the functional characteristics of the hydraulic receiver (here, the Wheel of Banki.) The profit of the blades is delimited by two arcs of ettipse. (Fig. II).
This allows progressive loading of the dawn only in the case of the circular profile most often adopted.
This progressiveness is marked by a reduction in the loading shock, a reduction in the induced vibrations and the noise level: these decreases lead to an improvement in the overall installation efficiency.
2 The particular position of the blades on your flanges is characterized by an entry angle of 280 by

has the outer tangent of the wheel and an angle In your previous embodiments, the tangent at the inner end of the blade merges with the radius of the rotor.
This particular arrangement induces an increased tolerance for variations in rotational speeds: these, inevitable, no longer cause proportional variations in efficiency. Thanks to this new arrangement, it is considered that variations in speed of 20% around the ideal speed entail only variations in efficiency of the order of only 3%.
3 The fixing of each blade on the flanges is achieved by "plug" welds. (Fig. 3) This type of welded connection avoids the traditional welding radii (in the vane-flange angle), which disturbed the flow.
An overall performance of the hydraulic receiver is therefore improved.
4 "The external edge of the water injection device has a logarithmic spiral shape with an angle of 12 (Fig. 4): the flow is therefore brought to attack your blades with the same angle of attack.
