<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

DESCRIPTION associated with an INVENTION PATENT APPLICATION in the name of
Helmut Straschewski for "Dosing device for the periodic delivery of granulate material or finely divided dry food, mainly for aquarium fish"
EMI1.1
- ---------------------------------------------
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This invention relates to a dosing device for the periodic delivery of granulate material or finely divided dry food, mainly for aquarium fish.
The object of the invention is to prescribe a dosing device that ensures a reliable and flawless operation with structurally very simple means.
To this end, the dosing device according to the invention comprises a trough-shaped container for the granulate or feed, in which container is mounted at the bottom a conveying screw, which opens above an outlet opening for the granulate or feed, a means for periodically driving this conveying screw in connection with shake above the intended screw conveyor to prevent bridging of the granulate or progress in the trough-shaped container.
In a preferred embodiment, the above-mentioned shaker is formed by a rod which extends above the said transport screw in the longitudinal direction thereof, in at least one place, thanks to a projection of this rod, in contact with the said transport screw, hingedly connected with a wall of the above-mentioned container and guided with the other end
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
becomes t. o. v. a second wall of the same container.
According to the invention, the above-mentioned rod which t. o. v. the above-mentioned wall is guided under the influence of a spring and kept pressed against the above-mentioned transport screw.
Other details and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a metering device for periodically delivering granulate material or finely divided dry food, mainly for aquarium fish according to the invention. This description is given by way of example only and does not limit the invention. The reference numbers refer to the attached figures.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section through the dosing device according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a section on the line II-II of Figure 1.
The dosing device according to the invention essentially consists of a trough-shaped container (1) which is closed at the top with a hermetic lid (2). At the bottom, the walls (3 and 4) of the trough-shaped container (1) have a bottom (5) with a semicircular cross section in which a transport screw (6) fits. The free end of this screw conveyor opens above a discharge section (7) through which the granulate or feed supplied by the screw conveyor (6) falls into the container or aquarium. This outlet section has a rim (8) that fits into the container or aquarium lid. The other end of the transport screw (6) is mounted in a Teflon bush (9), which is fixed to the wall (10) of the container.
A tooth-
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
wheel (11) locked with a locking pin (12) on this end, is driven from a motor (13) and a reduction gear (14).
The motor (13) is equipped with a time relay (0-10 min, 1 to 4 per 24 hours). In practice, the screw conveyor (6) does 4 to 6 revolutions per minute.
In order to prevent bridging of the granulate or dry feed above the conveyor screw (6), a tedder consisting of a rod (15) which is in contact with the conveyor screw (6) at least in one place is mounted above this conveyor screw.
For this purpose the rod (15) has a projection (16) which remains in contact with the screw conveyor and thus performs an up and down movement. The rod (15) is hinged with one end in (17) either on the wall (10) or on an anti-fouling part (18).
The rod (15) is preferably bent at right angles between the projection (16) and the hinge point (17). The opposite end of the rod (15) is formed by the rod (19) hinged in (20) with this end of the rod (15). This rod (19) partially fits into a housing (21) for a compression spring (22), which thus presses on the rod (15) via the rod (19). The pressure exerted by this spring can be adjusted by acting on the spring tensioner (23). The housing (21) for the spring (22) is advantageously attached to the wall (24) of the receptacle (1).
The rotation of the screw conveyor (6) imposes a shaking movement on the rod (15), as it were, causing the granulate or dry
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
feed is always stirred, which prevents bridging of this granulate or feed.
In order to maintain a slight overpressure in the receptacle (1), a pipe (25) passes airtight through the wall (10) and flows into this receptacle. The supplied air can best come from an available air pump. As a result, a small air flow is created in the container, which ensures that the granulate or feed is kept dry.
From the description given above of the dosing device according to the invention, it is therefore very clear that an efficient and secure regular feeding of granulate or food for aquarium fish can be ensured, while it should not be feared that, if the device is used as a feeding device for aquarium fish, dry food sticks together, so that the nutrition of the fish cannot be interrupted.
It is clear that the invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment and many changes could be made to it without departing from the scope of the patent application.
